A Fort McMurray small business is receiving funds from the federal government.
The Government of Canada announced on Friday they are allocating $3.3 million to women entrepreneurs through their Women Entrepreneurship Strategy which aims to double the number of women-owned businesses by 2025.
Corie L. Flett Professional Corporation is receiving $100,000 to help them support leasehold improvements and advertising.
Ten other businesses across Alberta also received $100,000.
“Our government believes that women’s economic empowerment is not just the right thing to do; it’s good for the bottom line,” said Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business and Export Promotion, in a release.
“That’s why we launched the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy, a strategy that seeks to double the number of women-owned businesses by increasing their access to financing, networks, and advice. It’s a smart investment with an economic and social return.”
The federal government is investing a total of $2 billion into the strategy.
