Four young men are being commended for their brave actions after saving a woman from a potentially life-threatening incident.
23-year-old Ram Marcaida, and 18-year-old’s Edjustin Silva, Jhud Abuda and Amiel Panganiban were parked at a Highway 63 rest stop on Sunday when Cynthia Simpson approached their vehicle.
Simpson had just pulled over after suffering a kidney stone attack and needed assistance to get to the hospital.
Speaking on Fort McMurray Matters, she says she’s overwhelmed with gratitude at the young men’s brave actions.
“Them staying until the end was so heart wrenching for me. I felt the love. It was such a proud moment, and for your parents, they must be so proud of you boys because who does that?”
Marcaida notes the boys were blown away by all the support they received on social media.
The four just happened to be on their way back from a volleyball tournament in Edmonton, when they decided to pull over for a rest.
Marcaida says it was simply a matter of being in the right place at the right time.
“We went for a tournament and we didn’t win any prize because we finished in fourth, but I think helping someone and finding out they were okay and that she’s in a better state, that’s like winning a gold medal.”
Simpson adds the boys can forever be proud of the way they handled the situation.
“I just can’t thank you enough for all you all did for me. I will truly hold you to my heart forever. What you did, was simply astonishing.”
