Janvier Water Treatment Plant Cleanup Expected To Take Several Days

The municipality is working to get the Janvier Water Treatment Plant back up and running after a chemical mixup at the facility.

Chemicals were accidentally transferred into the plant on Friday, impacting the water quality.

The RMWB says they’re certain nobody was exposed to the contaminated water.

The cleanup is expected to take between seven and 10 days.

In the meantime, the municipality is providing bottled water to households connected to the facility, while washroom facilities and a mobile shower cart are being stationed across the community.

People who receive trucked water are not impacted. They will continue to get water delivered as normal.

Meanwhile, Alberta Health Services do not consume water advisory for the community remains in effect.

Residents are being reminded to not use water from their taps for drinking, cooking, for their pets, or brushing teeth.
