A new fitness event is looking to raise funds across northern Alberta.
The YMCA of Northern Alberta is hosting its first annual event titled ‘Move to Give’ on April 4th.
Along with Fort McMurray’s Thickwood location, YMCA’s in Edmonton and Red Deer are also taking part in the initiative.
The money raised will go towards programs like swimming lessons, day camps and fitness programs for families who are facing financial barriers. It will also help with emergency childcare and outreach programs.
Individuals and teams can sign up for a 3 hour spin class or 3 one hour master classes. When participants register, they can begin accepting pledges.
For the first year, the organization hopes to raise $10,000.
