Ten more cases of COVID-19 are popping up in the RMWB over the past three days.
The province announced on Monday 130 new cases in Alberta – putting the total at 8,389. There were no updates over the weekend.
Only one of the local cases was in Fort McMurray while another recovered, keeping the active total at 17.
This individual is an employee at the Real Canadian Superstore.
In a statement, Loblaw Companies Limited says the worker is in self-quarantine.
“We are reaching out to the local public health team and have taken a number of steps to minimize risk, including increased sanitization protocols and enforcing social distancing practices in the store. The store also arranged for additional cleaning and has since reopened.
“Team members who worked closely with this individual are now at home in self-isolation, monitoring for any symptoms.”
They didn’t clarify when they worked last.
The other nine cases were all in the rural areas. This raised their active total to 19.
Across the RMWB, 53 individuals – 38 in Fort McMurray and 15 in the rural areas – have recovered from the virus.
They are among the 7,627 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents just under 91 per cent of the reported cases.
Meanwhile, there were no new deaths from COVID-19 in the province over the past 72-hours – keeping the death toll at 155.
None of the deaths have been in the RMWB.
