Fort McMurray is seeing 13 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
The province announced on Tuesday 713 new cases across Alberta. This raises the provincial total to 34,873 with 8,090 cases currently active.
There are now 113 active cases in Fort McMurray as one individual recovered compared to the new cases.
There were no changes in the rural areas, keeping the active total at three.
In total, 411 individuals across the RMWB – 343 in Fort McMurray and 68 in the rural areas – have recovered.
They are among the 26,407 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 75 per cent of reported cases.
There were also seven new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past day – raising the total to 376.
One of the deaths throughout the pandemic was in Fort McMurray.
School Update
The Fort McMurray Catholic School District is seeing two more positive cases.
One individual has ties to Father Mercredi, while the other has ties to Sister Mary Phillips.
These cases are believed to have been contracted off-site and are not the result of school transmission.
Custodians have conducted enhanced cleaning protocols, focusing on areas where the individuals were present, along with high-touch areas and surfaces throughout the schools.
Alberta Health Services will be in contact with all staff and students who need to self-isolate.
