Work is underway to remove all the temporary flood mitigation set up around the flood-prone areas.
River breakup was officially declared Friday morning as there’s no longer a significant risk of ice jams along the Clearwater and Athabasca Rivers.
Clearwater Drive is expected to be fully reopened by May 28 at the latest.
The clay from the temporary berms is also planned to be used on permanent flood mitigation projects this summer.
As for the triple dams, they’re being inspected, properly stored, and will be available for future use.
The RMWB is also setting up a drop-off site in Waterways at the corner of Bulyea Avenue and Park Street for sandbags.
Those who took part in the sandbag program can drop theirs off, free of charge, where the bags will be disposed of at the landfill and the sand being repurposed for other uses.
The drop-off location will be available seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for three weeks, however, the opening date has not been announced at this time.
Residents can keep their sandbags, but they must be stored properly to prevent damage.
This includes being protected from the sun, rain, and snow with the RMWB recommending placing them on a pallet and covering them with a waterproof and UV resistant tarp.
