Fort McMurray’s active total of COVID-19 cases is seeing a drop over the past 24 hours.
The province announced on Sunday 1,140 new cases in the province over the past day.
There are currently 22,280 active cases across Alberta, while there have been a total of 218,961 positive tests.
There are also 647 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 186 of which are in ICUs.
Locally, Fort McMurray added 95 new cases and 110 recoveries in the past 24 hours which puts the active total at 1,440.
The rural areas added one new case and zero recoveries, raising the total of active cases to 68.
Wood Buffalo National Park’s active total remains at two.
Fort McMurray remains the worst in the province when it comes to spread of the virus.
The community is averaging around 1,813 cases per 100,000 people.
The rural areas are now second with Lac La Biche County coming in third.
In total, 4,707 individuals across the RMWB – 4,489 in Fort McMurray, 208 in the rural areas, and 10 in Wood Buffalo National Park – have recovered.
They are among the 194,538 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 88 per cent of reported cases.
There were also three new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past 24 hours – raising the total to 2,143.
To date, five individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
