You have the opportunity to meet virtually with a national bestselling author.
The RMWB is holding its first session through the Indigenous Speaker Series where Jesse Thistle will get a chance to speak with residents across Wood Buffalo about his story.
His memoir, Ashes: My Story of Being Métis, Homeless and Finding My Way, highlights his life on the streets and how he overcame trauma and addiction.
It went onto being a #1 bestseller, while it also won the Kobo Emerging Writer Prize for Nonfiction and was named a recipient of an Indigenous Voices Award and High Plains Book Award.
Along with being an author, Thistle is an Indigenous activist, Métis-Cree Ph.D. candidate, an Assistant Professor at York University, and the National Representative for Indigenous Homelessness for the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness.
The session will take place on May 27 will involve a question-and-answer period.
