Twelve children with mobility issues are getting unique vehicles to help them travel in style.
Variety Alberta – the Children’s Charity – was able to create these unique vehicles through their ‘Go Baby Go’ program after getting donations from nine local organizations.
This includes North Star Ford, Summit GM, and the Rotary Club of Fort McMurray.
Larry Horeczy, Variety’s Chief Operating Officer, tells Mix News seeing the children get in the vehicles for the first time makes all the hard work worth it.
“They’re often more isolated, they’re often less active, and they’re often left to the sidelines, so we really want to deliver this program and we want to see as many kids in these cars.”

One of the 12 cars is being given to Caleb Hennessey.
His parents, Casey Hennessey and Kacie Fitzgerald, were on-hand to see their son drive around with a big smile on his face.
“It’s a good feeling, when we got the call about this… it’s exciting,” said Casey.

Neither had heard about ‘Go Baby Go’ before they got a call that Caleb would be getting his own vehicle.
Kacie says his siblings will definitely be a little jealous.
“We have three other kids that also have power wheels, so it’s going to be amazing to see Caleb actually interact.”
Variety Alberta is partnering with the Fort McMurray Public School Division and Fort McMurray Catholic School District on the initiative.
