Lost and surrendered items at the Fort McMurray International Airport are taking off with new owners, and supporting a local organization as well.
The Lost and Surrendered Items Sale was held in October by The Fort McMurray Airport Authority for the first time in five years.
All items, which included power tools, freezer bags full of scissors or lighters, luggage, phone chargers, and even iPads, were all priced at two dollars.
The sale took place over three days and raised $4,400 for the Pets and Wellness Society (PAWS) Wood Buffalo.
“We are so grateful for the partnership we have established with YMM. Our pet therapy teams love visiting staff and passengers regularly,” says Charity Wiles, Program Manager of PAWS.
“Thanks to YMM, you’ll be able to find even more pet therapy teams serving our community and greeting travellers at YMM.”
The funds raised will help train and recruit new members for the PAWS team.
A spokesperson for the airport also said the sale is a good reminder of what items are prohibited on flights.
