It was an expensive year on the insurance front for Albertans.
According to the Insurance Bureau of Canada, damage from severe weather including hail, wildfire, wind and floods exceeded $330 Million. That includes $100 Million paid to repair and replace vehicles following hail and flood events.
The IBC adds 2023 now ranks as the fourth-worst year for insured losses in Canada, with severe weather accounting for $3.1 Billion in damages across the country.
Since 2020, severe weather has led to over $4 Billion in insured losses in Alberta, including over $500 million going to insurance claims involving damaged vehicles.
