Albertans were asked to limit power consumption over the weekend due to the extreme cold conditions throughout the province.
According to a release from the Alberta government, rotating outages were a possibility due to the high power demand.
Extreme cold conditions in BC and Saskatchewan impacted electricity sharing, but the Saskatchewan government committed over 150 megawatts of power from the SaskPower Crown Corporation on Saturday, while another 86 megawatts of power was received from BC and Montana combined.
After the Emergency Alert went out to Albertans, the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) reported a 100-megawatt decrease in power demand. The alert ended late Saturday night.
