Over 22-thousand dollars was raised by Prestige Jewellers to help out the family of six-year-old Kaia, who remains in a coma in Edmonton.
Prestige Jewelers ran a raffle to help raise the funds for the family.
General Manager Mohamed Tarrabin said there was a lot of demand from the community that led to this raffle.
“Lots of people kept messaging us and telling us we should do this,” Tarrabin said. “We found ourselves with no choice but to do it.”

Tarrabin described how the raffle worked.
“We posted that we were going to donate a $7,000 ring and people could donate to the family by e-transfer,” Tarrabin said. “At the end of the raffle, we just picked one winner, so our target was $7,000, and in three days, we reached $22,000.”
Those still wanting to help Kaia’s family can do so by giving to the ongoing go-fund-me page, which has raised over 15 thousand dollars to date.
