As of 4:00 PM on Monday, the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road has an increased weight limit of 45,000 kilograms.
The RMWB says this is the maximum weight limit for the winter road, and there will be no further increases.
According to the RM, drivers should expect rough, spring-like conditions. Snow chains are recommended for uphill portions of the winter road, but they must be removed afterward to avoid further damage to the road.
The La Loche Winter Trail weight will remain at 5,000 kilograms until further notice.
