RCMP investigating two weekend thefts at Fort McMurray liquor stores

Wood Buffalo RCMP is investigating two robberies at Ace Liquor locations in Fort McMurray.

In the first instance, officers responded just before 7:00 Saturday night to the Thickwood location, where the suspect entered the store holding an edged weapon and demanded cash from the register. The employee complied, and the suspect left the store with an unknown amount of money.

The suspect man is described as tall with a slim build, wearing a black ball cap and a grey t-shirt around his face to conceal his identity. He was also seen wearing a black sweater and blue jeans and was carrying a grey backpack. Surveillance footage of the man was captured, and RCMP believe this suspect may have committed other thefts that happened on May 3rd.

Then, on Sunday evening, just after 6:30, a second armed robbery allegedly took place. This time, two suspects entered the Wood Buffalo Ace Liquor location armed with bladed weapons. The suspects took an unknown amount of cash before leaving.

Both men suspected of this robbery are described as tall with a slim build. One was wearing all black, while the other wore a patterned jacket, blue jeans, and a face covering. One carried a grey duffle bag, while the other was holding a black backpack.

No one was injured in either incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wood Buffalo RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
