Whether it’s too early or not, Spirit Halloween is back in Fort McMurray, and I’m honestly feeling a bit behind. It opened a few days ago, and I’ve already missed the initial spooky rush!

But every year, I find myself asking the same question: What is it about scary costumes in late August that gets people so pumped? Is it the thrill of planning Halloween two months in advance, or maybe just the chance to pretend summer’s heat doesn’t exist?

Personally, I’m just excited to stroll through the aisles and watch kids freak out when those animatronic decorations spring to life. But surely that can’t be the only reason everyone’s so eager to dive into Halloween mode in August… right?
