RCMP investigating homicide near Boyle with possible Fort McMurray connection
BREYNAT, Alta. — The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating a homicide after human remains were found near Boyle last week.
Boyle RCMP responded to a report of discovered remains near the intersection of Range Road 173 and Township Road 712 at around 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 26. An autopsy later confirmed the death was a homicide.
Investigators believe the male victim was in Fort McMurray earlier that day. As part of the investigation, police are conducting a video surveillance canvass in the city’s Lakewood and Eagle Ridge neighbourhoods.
RCMP are asking anyone with surveillance footage from those areas between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Feb. 26 to contact the Wood Buffalo detachment at 780-788-4000.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
