Alberta Issues Fire Bans in Some Provincial Parks Due to Dry Conditions
The Alberta government has issued fire bans for several provincial parks and recreation areas in the northeastern part of the province as dry conditions increase wildfire risks.
The bans prohibit outdoor campfires at Whitemud Falls and Crow Lake Provincial Park, both located near Fort McMurray. Further north, the ban extends to Egg Island near Fort Chipewyan and the Athabasca Sand Dunes Ecological Reserve near Richardson.
While the Fort McMurray Forest Protection Area remains free of fire bans, a fire advisory is in effect for the Lac La Biche Forest Protection Region, including the communities of Chard, Conklin, and Janvier.
Alberta Wildfire lists the current wildfire danger in the region as moderate, but they urge caution as spring wildfires are almost always human-caused.
