Highway 28 collision results in a fatality
RCMP have released more information about a fatal crash that shut down a major northern Alberta highway on Monday afternoon.
Police say a pickup truck heading north on Highway 28 near Morinville veered into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a southbound semi-truck. The driver of the pickup, a 44-year-old man from Edmonton, was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision forced the temporary closure of a stretch of Highway 28, a key transportation corridor linking Edmonton to Highway 63 and the Fort McMurray region.
