Voters reminded to bring proper ID as Fort McMurray–Cold Lake polls open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
April 28 is election day across Canada, with voters heading to the polls to choose who will represent them in Ottawa and which party will form the next government. In Fort McMurray–Cold Lake, polls are open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a variety of polling places set up throughout the region.
Voters are reminded to bring proper identification. A driver’s license or provincial ID card is accepted, as is any other card issued by a Canadian government that includes a photo, name, and current address.

Alternatively, two pieces of ID are acceptable as long as both have your name and at least one includes your current address. This could include a voter information card paired with a bank statement, utility bill, or student ID card.
If you do not have ID, you can still vote by declaring your identity and address in writing and having someone who knows you and who is assigned to your polling station vouch for you.
Those unsure of where to vote can find their polling location listed on their voter information card. If the card is unavailable, voters can visit elections.ca and click on “Where do I vote,” or call 1-800-463-6868 for assistance.
This year’s election has seen record advance voter turnout, with more than 7.3 million Canadians already casting ballots ahead of today. Harvard Media News will have up-to-date election results throughout the evening on play1037.ca and cruzradio.com.
