Fort McMurray Firefighters Raise $13,307 in Annual Rooftop Campout Fundraiser
FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. — Local firefighters braved the elements this weekend during the Fort McMurray Fire Fighters’ Association’s annual Rooftop Campout, raising $13,307 for community charities.
This year’s event saw crews camp atop two locations—the Eagle Ridge Tim Hortons and the East Village Pub—while engaging the public through a 50/50 draw and pancake breakfast. The fundraiser concluded Saturday morning as firefighters descended from the roof of the pub to serve breakfast at the EVP eatery.
Proceeds will support five local organizations: the Fort McMurray SPCA, Wood Buffalo Food Bank, Waypoints, the Centre of Hope, and the Boys and Girls Club.
“It’s another glowing success,” said one firefighter, noting the three-day effort reinforces the department’s commitment to the community.
The rooftop campout has become a signature fundraiser for the association, with this year’s total surpassing the $13,000 mark.
