Alberta RCMP Officers Recognized for Service, Bravery and Dedication
EDMONTON — Alberta’s RCMP gathered last month to celebrate the exceptional service, courage and commitment of their colleagues in two formal award ceremonies that highlighted both personal achievement and the rich legacy of policing in Canada.
Held on April 16 in Devon and April 25 in Red Deer, the ceremonies honoured officers and employees from across the province. Recipients were presented with Long Service Awards, Commanding Officer Commendations, Commissioner Commendations, King Charles III Coronation Medals and a Commanding Officer’s Certificate of Appreciation.
“These awards are a testament to the commitment and character of the people receiving them,” said Assistant Commissioner Trevor Daroux. “While these are huge accomplishments, these ceremonies are about more than medals and milestones.”
Each award acknowledged excellence in service and a shared commitment to the RCMP’s core values of integrity, professionalism, respect and compassion. The Long Service Award, given to those with more than twenty years of honourable service, was presented to 24 employees. Seven members received Commanding Officer Commendations for exceptional contributions or acts of bravery beyond the call of duty.
Four employees were awarded Commissioner Commendations, which are among the highest honours the RCMP bestows. One member received a Commanding Officer’s Certificate of Appreciation for an outstanding contribution to the organization.
A total of 29 employees were presented with King Charles III Coronation Medals. This national honour recognizes Canadians who have made significant contributions to the country or achieved accomplishments abroad that bring credit to Canada.
“These awards reflect the outstanding commitment and character of those who earned them,” Daroux added, noting that behind each medal is a story of dedication to fellow Canadians.
The ceremonies offered a moment of reflection and celebration for the Alberta RCMP. They also served as a reminder of the vital role law enforcement continues to play in communities across the province and beyond.
