Controlled Burns Nearing Completion in Wood Buffalo

The final round of controlled burns is underway across the RMWB to reduce spring wildfire risk. Alberta Wildfire and Regional Emergency Services crews are clearing dry grass and debris in areas including Fort McMurray. Helicopters and ground teams are assisting, with some burns possibly continuing into May if conditions allow. Currently, wildfire danger is very high in the Fort McMurray Forest Area and extreme in Lac La Biche.
