Ric McIver has been elected as the new Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. Chosen by fellow MLAs on May 13, McIver becomes the 15th Speaker in the province’s history. He’s currently serving his fourth term as MLA for Calgary-Hays and has held several cabinet positions, including Municipal Affairs, Transportation, and Infrastructure. McIver will serve as Speaker for the remainder of the 31st Legislature.
