Residents of Conklin are being urged to prepare for the possibility of evacuation as a wildfire continues to burn nearby. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) has issued an Evacuation Alert for the community due to the potential threat posed by wildfire LWF090, which may spread toward the area.
At this time, no Evacuation Order has been issued, but all residents are advised to be ready to leave on short notice and to follow directions from emergency officials.
The Municipality is working closely with Alberta Wildfire, the Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee (CRDAC), industry partners, and other agencies to monitor the wildfire and take steps to protect the community.
