Mayors Advisory Council on Youth (MACOY) Rmwb.ca
FORT McMURRAY, AB. — The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is now accepting applications for the 2025–2026 Mayor’s Advisory Council on Youth (MACOY), a leadership program for high school students in grades 9 through 12.
Up to 26 students from across the region will be selected to join the council, which offers opportunities to engage with local officials, support municipal initiatives, and contribute to the community. The application deadline is August 18.
MACOY members participate in a variety of activities throughout the year, including site visits to municipal facilities, community volunteering, and rural engagement in communities such as Anzac, Conklin, Fort McKay and Janvier. They have also contributed youth perspectives to projects like the RMWB Transit Master Plan and explored local post-secondary options through tours of Keyano College.
“Joining MACOY is a great way to get involved with the community and the work being done at the Municipality,” said Mayor Sandy Bowman in a statement. “We encourage interested students to apply and to consider how they can best represent youth perspectives while making a difference to those around them.”
Students can apply online at rmwb.ca/MACOY. For more information or assistance, contact Pulse at 780-743-7000.
