Sport Check Shoplifting Suspects
RCMP Investigating Two Thefts at Downtown Fort McMurray Sport Chek
FORT MCMURRAY, AB. — Wood Buffalo RCMP are investigating two separate shoplifting incidents at the downtown Sport Chek on Hardin Street and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects.
The first incident happened on May 12 around 1:20 p.m., when a man stole approximately $200 worth of clothing and fled through an emergency exit. Officers responded and patrolled the area but were unable to locate the individual.
Police describe the suspect as a man in his fifties with grey hair tied in a ponytail. He was wearing black-rimmed glasses, a black vest, a tan-coloured t-shirt, and jeans.

Sport Check May 12 Suspect_
The second theft occurred on June 3 around 1 p.m., when a separate person entered the store, grabbed a bag, and filled it with merchandise. He then exited the store and fled into the mall. The stolen items included a pink Adidas Weekender backpack, a New Balance rose pink jacket, several pairs of pink New Balance sweatpants, a pink fleece hoodie, an Adidas all-season top, and sand-coloured Adidas pants. The total value of the stolen clothing is estimated at $600.
This suspect is described as a man in his forties with grey hair, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and white shoes.

Sport Check June 3 Suspect
Police say they have obtained surveillance footage of both incidents and are continuing to investigate. It is not yet known if the two thefts are connected.
