Ford is facing another major recall—this time affecting over one million vehicles due to a faulty rear camera system. The issue? The camera might freeze, lag, or not turn on at all when you’re backing up.
This problem affects vehicles with the SYNC 4 system made between 2021 and 2025. Since this fails to meet safety standards, it’s considered a real risk on the road.
What’s The Fix?
The good news? You won’t necessarily need to visit the dealership. Ford plans to send out a remote software update (OTA) to fix the issue. But if you prefer, you can still take your car to a service center.
Recall notices will be sent to owners between June 16 and June 20, 2025.

Here are some of the main models on the list:

What Happened?
The issue comes from a software bug in the SYNC 4 system that stops the camera from turning on properly when you shift into reverse. Ford was alerted after 37 complaints and 15 reports of camera glitches were filed. Thankfully, only one minor accident has been linked to this problem, and no injuries have been reported.
