Fort McMurray gospel singer Katie Williams wins major Canadian music award
FORT MCMURRAY ,AB — Local gospel singer-songwriter Katie Williams is adding another major award to her growing list of honours. Williams took home “Contemporary or Praise and Worship Album of the Year” at the Canadian Selah Music Awards for her album Coming Back.
Her albums have amassed over 6,2000 views on YouTube in the past 8 months alone.
The Selah Awards recognize excellence in Christian music across Canada, with winners selected from some of the top talent in the genre. The Worship Album of the Year category is widely considered the most competitive and prestigious prize of the evening.
“Thank you CSMA for organizing such an incredible evening connecting so many wonderful Christian artists who are all running the race together,” said Williams. “It was such a special, unifying evening!”
Known nationally for her rich vocals and heartfelt songwriting, Williams has been a staple of Fort McMurray’s gospel music scene for years. Her win puts a national spotlight not just on her latest work, but also on the supportive creative community she says helped make the album possible.
Williams’ music, including Coming Back, is available on the Apple Store and Google Play.
