Reflections Lookout opens in Fort McMurray, honouring wildfire resilience
FORT McMURRAY, AB— Reflections Lookout, a new community park honouring the resilience of Fort McMurray residents during and after the 2016 wildfire, officially opened Tuesday.

and the first walk along the trail leading to the scenic lookout. The site overlooks a forest that is still recovering nearly a decade after the wildfire forced more than 80,000 people to flee in the largest evacuation in Alberta’s history.
The park was developed with input from the community and is designed as a place for remembrance and quiet reflection. Pathways, seating areas, and lookout points offer visitors a peaceful space to honour the strength and perseverance shown during the crisis.
Municipal officials say Reflections Lookout stands as a tribute to both the people of Wood Buffalo and the slow, steady renewal of the natural landscape.
