Syncrude donation helps support Fort McMurray women’s shelter
FORT McMURRAY, AB. — Unity House Emergency Women’s Shelter is thanking Syncrude, operated by Suncor, for a recent donation supporting its vital services for women and families in crisis.
The shelter, operated by the local not-for-profit organization Waypoints, is Fort McMurray’s only emergency shelter for women fleeing domestic violence. The funding will help sustain emergency housing for up to 21 days and a 24-hour crisis line for those facing domestic, family, or sexual violence.
“At Suncor, we’re committed to helping build a strong future for the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo region, where more than half of our employees live and work. We are proud to support Waypoints, a critical organization in the region that assists women and children escaping domestic violence,” said Willis Doiron, who leads Suncor’s Community Investment in the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo region.
Unity House shared its appreciation on social media, saying partnerships like this strengthen its ability to provide safety, support, and hope during times of crisis.
