Province creates new team to help with classroom concerns.
EDMONTON — A 25-member action team appointed by the Alberta government is tackling growing aggression and complexity in the province’s classrooms. The group includes teachers, school leaders, trustees and support staff with direct experience working with students.
Over the coming months, the team will examine policies, teacher training, inclusive education supports and funding. They are expected to submit final recommendations to the Minister of Education and Childcare by September 30.
“The action team’s insights will be key to finding practical solutions that reduce aggression, manage classroom complexity and improve safety and support for students and staff,” said Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides. Supports based on the team’s work could begin rolling out in the 2025–26 school year.
