Keyano College environmental grads gain direct pathway to University of Alberta
FORT McMURRAY, AB. — A new transfer agreement between Keyano College and the University of Alberta is creating a direct path for environmental technology graduates to pursue a science degree at one of the province’s top universities.
The deal allows eligible Keyano students who complete either the Environmental Technology Diploma or the Co-op Diploma with a minimum 3.0 GPA to enter the third year of several Bachelor of Science programs in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences.
Programs available to transfer students include the Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Conservation Sciences, with majors such as conservation biology, land reclamation, environmental economics and policy, human dimensions, and wildlife and rangeland management. A Bachelor of Science in Forestry is also available under the agreement.
“This agreement is a significant step forward in supporting student mobility within Campus Alberta,” said Dr. Coert Erasmus, Dean of the School of Business, University Studies and Academic Upgrading at Keyano College. “It ensures our students can build on the strong foundation they receive at Keyano and continue their academic journey at one of Canada’s top universities.”
The agreement streamlines the transfer process by recognizing the depth of Keyano’s diploma programs, helping students avoid duplicated coursework. It supports the broader goals of Campus Alberta, which include improving collaboration and access across the province’s post-secondary system.
