RMWB seeks candidates for new Audit and Compliance Committee
FORT MCMURRAY, AB. — The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is looking for qualified candidates to fill two positions on its newly established Audit and Compliance Committee.
Council approved the creation of the committee through Bylaw 24/17 at its June 10 meeting. The group will support council with financial oversight and decision-making, and members of the public will be appointed for two-year terms.
Applicants must have experience and knowledge in financial matters and public sector accounting. Preference will be given to candidates who live in the region, though residency is not required.
The Audit and Compliance Committee will be responsible for reviewing the municipality’s annual financial statements and recommending their approval to council. It will also review compliance with financial reporting policies, develop annual work plans, oversee external audits and ensure the authority and independence of the Regional Auditor.
Applications must be submitted through the Boards and Committees Portal at rmwb.ca/boards by Sept. 7.
