Tests confirm no cannabis in suspected cupcakes
FORT CHIPEWYAN, AB. — Concerns that cupcakes at a school bake sale in Fort Chipewyan had been tainted with cannabis have proven to be unfounded.
RCMP say staff at the Athabasca Delta Community School removed the cupcakes in April after suspicions they may have been laced. The treats were sent to Health Canada’s Cannabis Laboratory for testing.
Police say results received August 23 confirmed the cupcakes contained no substances related to cannabis, and no children or staff were harmed.
Sgt. Warren Davison, detachment commander in Fort Chipewyan, thanked residents for their support and their commitment to safer communities.
Mounties are reminding the public to report suspicious activity to police or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
