My Chart, Government of Alberta
Alberta is making a minor change to how you access your health information online
EDMONTON — Albertans who use the province’s online health portal will soon log in under a new name as MyAHS Connect is rebranded to MyChart.
The government says the change is meant to create a more seamless and consistent digital health experience, aligning the web system with the MyChart mobile app already in use. Patients will still be able to securely access records, manage appointments, view test results and co-ordinate care with their health team.
“MyAHS Connect is being renamed to provide a clearer, more consistent name that supports a patient-focused digital health system,” said Adriana LaGrange, minister of primary and preventative health services. “We want to ensure Albertans have straightforward access to their health records, and creating a seamless patient journey has remained a key priority.”
Matt Jones, minister of hospital and surgical health services, said the change won’t affect functionality. “Renaming MyAHS Connect to MyChart will ensure a consistent name between the app and the system while maintaining its important function as an online collaborative tool for both Albertans and healthcare professionals,” he said.
The government says MyChart draws information primarily from Connect Care and the acute care system, giving patients a reliable and up-to-date view of their health records in one place. The platform is already used in acute care and mental health and addictions, and officials say work is underway to expand its reach across other parts of the health system.
Albertans can access MyChart by creating a verified Alberta.ca account and signing up for MyHealth Records. Existing users will automatically retain access, with no new sign-up required.
The province says more than 1.3 million Albertans currently have active accounts.
