Free performances and illuminated art set for Oct. 1 to 5 in downtown Fort McMurray
FORT McMURRAY, AB. — The downtown skyline will glow this fall as igNIGHT returns to kiyām Community Park with its biennial public art exhibition.
This year’s theme, Into the Unknown, will feature illuminated installations, live performances and family-friendly activities from Oct. 1 to 5. The free exhibition runs each evening from 6 to 10 p.m. and welcomes visitors of all ages.
“Into the Unknown celebrates human connection and imagination through playful light-based installations by artists from around the globe,” said Jayda McMillan, chair of the Municipal Public Art Committee. “This year’s edition is sure to spark curiosity, inspire laughter and bring a touch of magic to kiyām Community Park.”
Artists featured in the exhibition include Brandon Tyson and David Harrison, B!G ART, Johan Fredrik Källman, AlexP, and Hubris and Nemesis.
Each night will bring a different experience, from fire dancing by Dream Dance Circus to special events such as a Friday Silent Disco, a Saturday dance party with DJ Carlito and Sunday storytelling under the Starquarium. Visitors can also take part in crafts, face painting and glow activities at the Into the Unknown activity tent.
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo thanked community partners Burnco and Sunbelt Rentals for supporting the event.
