FORT McMURRAY, AB. — Both Fort McMurray school divisions say they are awaiting the results of a ratification vote on a tentative contract reached between the Alberta Government and the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association.
Teachers are set to vote from Sept. 27 to 29, with the employer group’s ratification process to follow. A tentative agreement was reached during central negotiations that covered province-wide issues, including salary and working conditions.
In a letter to families, Fort McMurray Catholic Schools said all schools remain open as usual and pledged to continue providing timely updates. The division also outlined how bargaining works, noting that once central bargaining concludes, local negotiations can begin.
The Fort McMurray Public School Division also sent a notice to parents confirming the tentative deal and the upcoming vote. It said updates would continue to be shared as new information becomes available.
Both divisions say schools remain open and families will be kept informed throughout the ratification process.
