EDMONTON — Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto this week to promote collaboration and advance projects aimed at strengthening industries across Canada.
While in Montreal, Smith is meeting with business and financial leaders in sectors including insurance, construction, real estate, energy, agriculture and technology. The province says the meetings are focused on building partnerships to fast-track infrastructure and resource projects involving energy and critical minerals.
In Ottawa, Smith is holding bilateral meetings with federal officials to discuss shared priorities. She will also meet with Prime Minister Mark Carney.
The premier’s trip will conclude in Toronto, where she will address the Eurasia Group’s 2025 U.S.-Canada Summit. Her speech will highlight Alberta’s role in North American energy and economic security. She is also scheduled to meet with Ontario Premier Doug Ford and private sector leaders.
“I look forward to finding new opportunities for progress, partnership and collaboration that will strengthen our economy and create lasting prosperity for Canadians nationwide,” Smith said in a statement. “As Canadians, we must come together to aggressively knock down barriers and invest in our future to build a stronger, more resilient country for generations to come.”
The province says Alberta, Quebec and Ontario share natural economic synergies in areas such as transportation, technology, mining and agri-food, and that the mission aims to expand export capacity and attract new investment.
Smith’s trip builds on previous meetings with business leaders and government officials earlier this year.
