An early morning fire in Timberlea has left one home a total loss.
Fort McMurray firefighters were called to Fireweed Crescent shortly before 5:45 a.m. after reports of smoke coming from a garage. Crews arrived within minutes to find a fully involved structure fire.
Firefighters worked quickly to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to neighbouring homes. Several units responded, including three pumpers, a ladder truck, paramedics, and RCMP.
No residents were home at the time, but one firefighter was injured while battling the blaze and was taken to hospital in stable condition. Crews remained on scene into the late morning for overhaul and clean-up. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
