EDMONTON — Police suspect there may be more victims in a major child-luring case that has already led to more than 100 charges against a Leduc man.
Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams’ Internet Child Exploitation unit says 49-year-old Campbell Fergusson now faces 113 charges, including child luring, sexual assault, and making and possessing child sexual abuse material.
Fergusson was first arrested in June after a report to Cybertip, when investigators had identified six victims. After a public appeal and forensic evidence review, police identified 23 victims, most of them teenage girls from the Leduc area.
Staff Sgt. Alison Church with ALERT’s ICE unit said investigators believe more victims are still out there.
“Our investigation is not over. We believe there are more young girls who were involved with Mr. Fergusson and we want to encourage them to come forward,” Church said.
Fergusson remains in custody and is due back in court October 24. Police urge anyone with information to contact local law enforcement or Crime Stoppers. Supports are available through the Zebra Child and Youth Advocacy Centre.
