FORT MCMURRAY — Fort McMurray International Airport has been recognized with a continental honour after winning the Best Small Airport PR Program Award at the Airports Council International North America Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Awards.
The award celebrates YMM’s 2025 Art Strategy, a program designed to highlight local artists and share the character of the Wood Buffalo region with travellers passing through the terminal. Airport officials say the recognition is especially meaningful because the strategy was built in partnership with local creatives and community supporters.
Airports Council International says its Public Relations Programs category recognizes planned efforts that improve an airport’s image in the public eye. Awards are presented to large, medium and small airports. This year’s winners were Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in the large category, Edmonton International Airport in the medium category, and Fort McMurray International Airport in the small category.
Fort McMurray was also among several Canadian airports honoured at the ceremony, with Toronto Pearson, Vancouver International Airport and Edmonton International Airport receiving awards.
A photo released by the airport shows Jessica Lipton accepting the award on YMM’s behalf alongside representatives from the other Canadian airports recognized.
