FORT McMURRAY — A new platform aimed at elevating women’s leadership in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo will launch early next year with an inaugural keynote dinner headlined by Roberta Jamieson, a nationally recognized advocate for Indigenous rights and inclusive leadership.
The Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce announced the event, called Her Leadership Journey: Keynote Dinner and Fireside Conversation, which will take place Feb. 5 at the Fort McMurray Golf Club. The initiative is being presented in partnership with Bouchier, with support from the governments of Alberta and Canada.
Jamieson, who has spent decades in public service, law, and national advocacy, will deliver the keynote address before joining Bouchier CEO Nicole Bouchier and Suncor senior vice president Shelley Powell for a fireside discussion moderated by Chamber CEO Dianna de Sousa. The panel will explore each leader’s professional path, the obstacles they encountered, and the mentors and allies who helped shape their careers.
The Chamber says the dinner marks the beginning of a long-term effort to celebrate and advance women’s leadership in the region, bringing voices together from industry, business, government, Indigenous communities and the nonprofit sector. Attendees will take part in a welcome reception, keynote program, panel conversation and networking dinner.
Tickets are available through the Chamber’s event calendar, and partnership opportunities remain open for organizations looking to support the new platform.
