FORT McMURRAY — Keyano College students in environmental technology will be able to complete a four year degree through a new partnership with the University of New Brunswick.
The agreement creates a 2+2 pathway that allows graduates of Keyano’s two year environmental technology diploma, in both co-op and non co-op streams, to transfer into UNB and finish a bachelor of science in forestry or environmental management in two additional years. The UNB program offers specializations in wildlife conservation, water resources management and environmental stewardship.
Keyano’s diploma is nationally recognized for field based training and hands on experience in environmental monitoring, reclamation and conservation, reflecting the needs of Alberta’s oil, mining and forestry sectors. UNB’s faculty of forestry and environmental management brings more than a century of expertise in resource studies, digital forestry and climate related research.
Officials from both institutions say the pathway provides an affordable and direct route to advanced education while helping train future professionals in natural resource and environmental fields. The new option is part of Keyano’s broader University Studies stream.
