FORT MCMURRAY — Fort McMurray athletes are returning home with world titles after a strong showing at the 2025 IBJJF NoGi World Championships in Las Vegas.
Fort Martial Arts sent three competitors to the three-day international tournament, earning two world championships and a bronze medal against elite global competition.
Stacy Bellefleur won gold in the Masters 2 purple belt division, marking Fort McMurray’s first-ever NoGi jiu jitsu world champion. Tristan Parker captured gold in the Men’s 1 black belt division and added a bronze medal in the open class, becoming the city’s first black belt NoGi world champion.
Trevor Meisner also competed at the event. It was his first time entering a major international championship. He did not reach the podium, but coaches noted steady improvement and experience gained against top-level opponents.
The IBJJF NoGi World Championships are considered one of the sport’s premier events, drawing competitors from around the world and showcasing the highest levels of no gi Brazilian jiu jitsu.
The results mark a series of firsts for Fort McMurray and highlight the continued growth of local martial arts programs on the international stage.
