GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. — Alberta RCMP say two people are dead and a suspect is in custody following a targeted double homicide in a rural area outside Grande Prairie.
Police say a 42-year-old man was arrested Saturday after officers issued a dangerous person alert warning residents of an armed and extremely dangerous suspect. RCMP say the suspect and the victims were known to each other and there is no ongoing risk to public safety.
Mounties say the alert was issued due to concerns about the suspect’s mental state and access to firearms. Further details about the victims and circumstances surrounding the double homicide have not been released, and charges are pending.
