FORT McMURRAY — Wood Buffalo RCMP are asking residents to help shape policing priorities for the region for 2026–27, with public feedback open until Feb. 25.
Police say community input will help guide enforcement and prevention efforts by identifying the issues of greatest concern to residents, alongside regular responses to calls for service.
The RCMP point to last year’s engagement as evidence the process can influence outcomes. Property crime was identified as a top concern during the previous round of consultations, and police say property crime offences fell by 20 per cent in 2025.
Residents can participate by completing an online survey or quick poll, calling Pulse to respond by phone, or attending in-person engagement opportunities. Pop-up events will be held throughout January and February in Fort McMurray, while RCMP officers will also visit rural communities door to door to gather feedback. Paper surveys are available at municipal offices for rural residents.
Full details on engagement events and participation options are available through the municipal website. Police say the final set of community priorities, along with engagement results, will be released this spring.
