Winter Maintenance Zones, RMWB image
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo says all available crews and equipment remain active as snow removal continues across the region. Daily winter maintenance updates will be shared Monday through Friday until road conditions improve and are available at rmwb.ca/wmz.
The municipality says progress is being slowed by a high number of vehicles left on streets during active parking restriction hours. Streets with too many parked vehicles may be skipped so crews can continue work elsewhere. Additional enforcement is now in place, with vehicles in active subzones subject to a $120 ticket plus towing fees.
When subzones are active, all vehicles must be removed from streets between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Crews remind residents not to wait until equipment arrives and not to park back on the street before 6 p.m., even if work appears complete.
High-traffic roads outside the Winter Maintenance Zone program continue to receive frequent plowing, with snow removal completed on about 61 per cent of those streets so far. In active subzones 1 and 2, crews have cleared 68 streets this week, with 172 of 219 streets completed this winter.
Residents are encouraged to submit service requests online through Pulse at rmwb.ca/pulse for faster response times.
