As of December 2025, $7 million has been invested in downtown Fort McMurray through the Downtown Revitalization Incentives Program, marking a major milestone in efforts to strengthen the city’s core.
Since the program began in 2020, more than 200 projects have received funding, with 58 projects still underway and more awaiting approval.
Now in Phase 3, the program helps businesses and organizations upgrade interiors, exteriors, and surrounding spaces to support a more vibrant downtown. With $1.3 million in funding still available, property owners are encouraged to apply before May 31, 2026.
Grants also support accessibility improvements and crime‑prevention measures, helping create safer and more inclusive public spaces. Program staff recommend booking a pre‑application meeting to confirm eligibility and discuss project ideas.
